"But Maria Concepcion was all my thought

watching the sea heaving up and down

as the port side of dories, schooners, and yachts

was painted afresh by the strokes of the sun

signing her name with every reflection;

I knew when dark-haired evening put on

her bright silk at sunset, and, folding the sea,

sidled under the sheet with her starry laugh,

that there’d be no rest, there’d be no forgetting"

The Schooner Flight by Derek Walcott

Statement:

                 The lines above take from the Derek Walcott poem, The Schooner Flight , several weeks of experimentation / investigation and an unsettled mind was all that was need to create this portraiture.The language of the  poem describes her in every way , which could not be translated in any  form other than words. There fore it was essential to simply visualize what these words reflects and create a portraiture of her based on the description. Her continuous movement and  sound,her symbolic and comparative visual representation and  her mood at different times of the day all create a portrait that would be unforgettable.
